Hi,
We'll be visiting family in a small town near Treviso. We have three days and nights before taking the train from Bologna to Fabriano (more family). We're unsure how we should spend those three days. We have visited Venice before and it is one of our favorite cities and have never been to Bologna. We're wondering if we should visit one or both and how to split the time. Any suggestions and words of wisdom would be appreciated, thanks.
I think a day in Bologna would be enough. So you could spend a night there only. I visited Bologna always on a day trip from Florence, and since I have relatives in Bologna, that one day visit included touring the town and visiting the family.
One night in Bologna would be easy since it's not that far from Venezia. You could work in practically a full day.
It depends on your interests but you can easily spend a couple of days in Bologna. It is only about 90 minutes from Venice by train so you could just do one night and still have a fair bit of time to see the main sights.
We are also staying near Treviso for 5 nites in mid May and have considered a side trip to Bologna.
Any suggestions on "not to be missed" food venues in Bologna would be appreciated!
Thanks for the advice. I think we'll do 2 nights in Venice and 1 in Bologna.
