We will be in Bologna for three nights in early November and are just recently considering booking a food tour. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you.
I have been on several food tours in different cities and enjoyed them all. However the Italian Days Food tour out of Bologna has them all beat. It is an entire day of food and wine with incredible guides. They even pick you up at your hotel. https://www.italiandays.it/
Which kind of food tour? Emilia Romagna Tours has a wide range of tours: https://emiliaromagnatours.it/
Second vote for Italian Days Tour. We had a fantastic time and we learned SO MUCH about the food and how it's made and the many rules and regulations that go into making it all. Plus a wonderful lunch at the end!
A third vote for Italian Days. Do NOT eat anything before the tour. What a day!
For anyone who may search or stumble across this in the future, I am gluten free and Italian Days accommodated me beautifully.
I took my son to Bologna for a mother/son trip and the highlight was Italian food days tour. It was expensive back then (about 6-7 years ago) and even more expensive now, but it was amazing, and I'd do it again. You do need to book way in advance, the tours are so popular now, they sell out dates. It's a full day, from a pick up early morning until you arrive back in the early evening.
We were told to not eat any breakfast, and do not - they feed you all day.
There are other food tours for sure, but this one is outside the city and right in the heart of the region..
Did have gelato that evening, just to top off the day... I still have the card Alesando gave me "fast food kills"....
Thank you all for the recommendations…we got on a waitlist for the Italian Days Food Tour AND just got notified that two spots opened up for us! So looking forward to this experience!
