We have heard that the city shuts down in August. We had hoped to visit early August - should we? Any suggestions on best things to do at that time?
Most cities do. But they don't totally shut down, just many locals go to their beach vacations. You can do in August whatever you can do in April. There will be fewer people and more scorching heat.
