Bologna Cooking Class

Good day all,
We are taking our grandkids to Italy in the Spring and they want to take a cooking class. Since Bologna is known for food I'd like to have any suggestions for a reputable class for a family. There are 5 of us traveling and we don't mind spending 3-4 hours on a class. Thanks for the suggestions!

My wife, my sister in law and I had a great experience with Maribel Agullo with Taste of Italy in Bologna. Met early on for coffee, shopped with her in the vegetable and meat markets, went back to her home for the lesson then shared the wonderful meal with her. She is personable and knowledgeable and made us feel as if we were at a relative’s home. Highly recommend.

Thank you for the information. Can you tell me the duration of the experience (start & end times)? We are taking our grandkids this time, their first, so we want them to get to see as much as possible.

The experience was very relaxed and unrushed although I suspect Maribel would tailor it however you wanted.

We met her at a coffee shop near the central square about 8:30 am, shopped for about an hour and a half. Our Italian was limited so watching her negotiate with the shopkeepers was very interesting ! We also were interested in buying for ourselves some very special balsamic vinegar and olive oils and she helped us communicate with the shopkeepers to do so.

We then walked to her house to have the lesson. We made risotto and stuffed zucchini flowers as well as chicken stuffed with parm reg and prosciutto. Her specialty is homemade pasta but for us that wasn’t a practical skill so she adapted to what we wanted. Cooking probably took a couple of hours. But again it quite relaxed as we sampled some different meats and cheeses she had bought as well as a few sips of wine.

After cooking we sat and ate together - again relaxed, probably about hour and half. Then she made us coffee and a simple dessert.

We probably left her place around 2:30pm or so. But it was actually us that ended the lesson as we felt like she would have sat and chatted with us about Italy, Bologna, cooking etc. for as long as we wanted. She is an excellent and thoughtful host. By the end of our time together we really did feel family or old friends.

But I am pretty sure she would be very flexible to your needs. If you told her you needed to be finished at a certain time I think she will tailor to what you want.

Thank you so much for all of that information. It really does sound wonderful. I will look into it and contact her today.
