Bologna airport to central train station

I'm reading there is a monorail from the airport to the main train station. Any one experience using this?

Recommendation for easiest way to central train station, taxi, train, bus, monorail? Googled options and there are many !

It seems they finally fixed the monorail, but the lines are still long when many flight arrive at the same time.

Buses shuttle from the airport to the front of the train station. The only snag is buying the ticket from a machine.

The Marconi Express people mover ( what you call the monorail) costs 11 euro per person one way. So if there are two of you the cost is similar to the taxi. The people mover takes about 8 min to cover the distance from the airport to the station, but then you have to wait for the people-mover train (one every 7-15 min depending on time of day) and there are lines to get on board depending on the number of passengers waiting to get on board. The taxi ride is normally less than 15 min, but also varies depending on traffic.

WhenI was there last September , I took the monorail to the airport to meet my arriving friend… I had been in Bologna a few nights before that.
It was very rattly, shaky and “tippy”.
I did NOT feel safe in it at all, especially when it seemed to speed up going around curves and over the motorways!
The cars are tiny and pack people in tight.
Another woman in my car clutched her crucifix with her eyes shut the whole way.
I would never take it again, it was quite nerve racking to me.

There was no specific airport bus , only a city bus which seemed to have it’s stop quite far from the terminal.
I believe the airport bus was discontinued when the monorail started up.

Coming back into town, the two of us got a taxi.
Same price as the monorail for the two of us.
I think we paid E21 to our accommodation near the train station.
I would take a taxi, as the lineups for the monorail into town were huge.
Each train only has a few cars, so the wait is long.
We got a taxi within minutes of lining up for one.

Like others above, I recommend taking a taxi. In addition to the issues mentioned above, it is not easy to find your way around the huge Bologna train station from one section to another. The signage is confusing if you do not know exactly where you are trying to go—-to a regional train, a fast train (Freccia or Italo), or out of the station on the side toward the city center.

A taxi to the airport from a stand near the train station was only €18 last March (for two of us).

The bus shuttle has been replaced by the Marconi Express, so is not more existing.
Is working only the very few times when Marconi Express is stopped for any reason.
