We will be flying out of Bologna in a few days, on Wed. and we are wondering how early to get there. If it is very small and things tend to operate pretty efficiently we were thinking 2 or 21/2 hours.
Thanks!
There is a big note on the home page of the airport website which states-
Please report to the airport at least 3 hours in advance. Due to work at security checks, we recommend you to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before the flight departure time.
For an airport which almost exclusively handles short haul flights you would have thought that 2 hours or so would be sufficient. But if that is what the airport is saying then I suppose it is best to comply with their advice.
It is a big hub for Ryanair, and handles about 9 million passengers a year so is not as small as might be expected. Also all gates are bus gates, as there are no jetways- another consideration.
Hi,
usually yes, in Bologna 2 hours were enough (without check-in luggage even shorter), but now they are working at the security check area and the queues there are much longer and slower than before, so is suggested 3 hours.
Bologna airport is pretty small in size, even if are handled a lot of passengers every year. So you don't lose time walking for one hour inside the airport: the only problem now is the security check.
BTW: they are installing the new units who control liquids, so you can enter with more that 100ml!
