I haven't flown into or out of Bologna before? Any hints? Those who follow my posts will know that I haven't flown anywhere for nearly 20 years. This will be with Easyjet. I hope its easy...
BLQ is a very easy airport, large, modern and good signage. Smallish eating area, but who needs it. Driving there is subject to delays at times because suburban Bologna is a great giant road intersection. You'll have a great time.
Thanks, Mike
Love your posts. We did Bologna a few years ago on our way to Florence. the airport was a piece of cake. We had no trouble finding the bus to the train station. We speak no Italian, but I knew how much the fare was supposed to be, so that helped me know I was on the right one. The bus did get stuck on traffic, but we made our train.
Thanks Patty...
After the usual security stuff to get airside, you will then have to go through Passport Control to get through to the UK bound gates. So allow plenty of time to get through PC, it can get busy because they seem to be manned sporadically and queues build up. Not that there is a lot of shopping etc airside to distract you! We usually go through as soon as we can and settle down with a book. PS - there are works going on at the airport. As you know we are there end of April and are also flying Easyjet so will be interested in any problems etc. http://www.bologna-airport.it/uk/?LN=UK
Nigel, It's about time you Brits sign the Schengen Treaty, that way you don't have to go through passport control anymore for European flights. Why don't you write to Cameron? What are you guys afraid of? Most terrorists live already in London anyway.
@Linda - we will you on return. Do you know anything about a Gelateria / Caffetteria called Saverio? Or a better gelateria - if it ever gets past 5 degrees? @Roberto - LOL. Yeah- even after we win extradition they still stay around here and don't go.
Afraid I can't help with that cafe/gelateria. May have used it because have dropped in on several places on Via di Indipendenza. Can't remember anything bad about any of them. We patronised a "Mom and Pop" place on Via Marsala (Il Sogno di Walter - husband's name) but last year found they had sold the business. Other than that we usually bought ice cream from the Grom branch on Via D'Azeglio and ate sitting on the Basilica steps in Piazza Maggiore watching the goings on. But of course it was somewhat warmer!
