I read that the business class lounge is BEFORE security in the Bologna airport. If true, how early do you need to leave the lounge to ensure you get through security for a Schengen area flight? The flight is scheduled for the early afternoon. Thank you.

It is before general public security, however, the lounge has its own security check. Surprised me, but you go to the lounge and when ready head to ‘their’ security line and buzz right through. Very convenient and easy.

Exactly as SJS reported.
However, are working in this period in Bologna, so is suggested arriving at the airport not very late. For general check-in is suggested 3 hours before. From the Business Lounge I suggest to arrive not less than 1 hour before.
