How early should we arrive at the airport when we fly out? We are spending two of our twelve nights in Italy in Bologna. Any recommendations for dining/activities?

I was in Bologna earlier in the year and really liked it. A lot of it is very industrial but the old historic centre is lovely with the main square, cathedral and fountain a central meeting place. The cathedral is a must and opposite it on the other side of the square is a tourist bureau. I also saw one of those hop on hop off buses but didn't go on it. It may be a good way to get an overview of the town. As for dining we just walked around the streets and went into a restaurant that looked nice. Maybe we were lucky but all the meals were really nice. I found the food generally better than a lot of other Italian towns.
As for getting to the airport if you are going back directly to the US then allow what you would for any international flight.
