Bologna

We will be visiting Bologna in July. We are travelling with our sons, 30 and 33.

We are wondering what area we should rent an air bnb in. We want to be close to a train station and not too far from restaurants. We like the artsy neighbourhoods, in general.

We would also were wondering if a day trip to Parma is worth it.

For those of you who have been in Bologna in July, any advice or suggestions?

Thank you
Maria

We really enjoyed our day trip to Parma, for a cheese making tour. If you have the time, and like the cheese, its worth it.

In Bologna, don't miss the hike to (or from) the Sanctuary of Saint Luke, with its 666 arches in the worlds longest portico. Definitely, in July you would enjoy have a shaded walk.

Also, the Basilica of Saint Dominic, where you can get up close to a Michelangelo, carved when he was just a kid. Its on the tomb of Saint Dominic.

Bologna is a wonderful city. I would not stay close to the train station as the best sites and restaurants are in the historic center. The walk from the historic enter to the train station is not long.
