Boboli Gardens in early July

After arriving in Florence from Rome, we were going to make our way to the Boboli Gardens sightseeing (and eating) along the way, then on to the Oltrarno neighborhood for browsing/shopping. My question is this: Is it going to be too hot to walk around Boboli for long? Are the gardens "worth it" that time of year? Or should we do the Bardini gardens (or somewhere else) instead? We appreciate the outdoors more than traditional art museums (but still seeing David on a different day!) but I'm wondering if a couple hours touring the gardens is not realistic that time of year due to heat. Or maybe a smaller, less overwhelming (than the Uffizi) museum - would Pitti Palace be a good alternative? I know that's a lot of questions actually - any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

Boboli is a place where people (locals and visitors alike) go to rest during the hot hours of the day. At least you will be surrounded by plants and trees, and the occasional pond. The gardens are on a a hill, therefore as you enter from Palazzo Pitti you will be walking uphill. There is a nice view too as you go to the top near Forte Belvedere. I definitely think it’s a worthwhile visit. The gardens are large, so you may not feel like visiting the whole place especially if it’s too hot.
