Boats & Lake Como

We'll have one full day (2 nights) on the lake and would like to do some kind of boat tour/cruise. Rick only mentions one company in Bellagio (pricey) and I'm wondering if anybody can recommend another place? An evening cruise would be ideal, we also plan to see Villa del Balbianello.

What sort of ballpark pricing can we expect?

There are only 2 of us, so I'm guessing a private tour will be out of our price range, but who knows?

Thanks!

*We'll be staying in Argegno if that makes a difference.

You can buy an all day ferry pass for traveling between Varenna, Bellagio, and Menaggio
they are all kind of located in the mid-lake area.
Each town is great for walking around, having a picnic, a gelato etc.
We spent most of the day doing this and spent the most time in Bellagio
(we were staying in Varenna.)

You hop off the ferry and spend a much time as you want in each location.
We sat on the upper-decks and enjoyed the sunshine as we cruised around the lake

Thanks for the ferry tips. That was something we had considered, but were hoping for something more private, if possible.

Anybody have tips on non-ferry boats? Prices, etc.?

Villa Balbianello was nice when we visited it earlier this year. We were also there 2 nights and 1 full day on Lake Como. We stayed in Varenna and used the mid-lake ferry. You can find the full lake como ferry schedule here between all the towns (http://www.navigazionelaghi.it/eng/c_orari.asp)

For nigth cruises you can always check with people at the docks in the town when you arrive. Varenna had a couple of taxi/tour boats that would take people around the lake. I remember seeing some around 25 euro but we didn't do them.
