Boats available from Rome to Sorrento

Can you get a boat from Rome or is it only from Naples to Sorrento. Looking at other travel options besides a train or car
Thanks

We went to Sorrento from Rome last year. We took the train from Rome to Naples and connected with the Circumvesuviana (slow and hot rail). On our return to Rome we took the ferry that we got at the Picallo Marina in Sorrento. This took us to Naples, then a short cab to the train station and on to Rome. I would suggest either following our steps or picking up the ferry from the Naples train station. The ferry is more expensive but with AC I think it is worth it. Happy travels.

Actually, there are no boat docks in Rome. The nearest are 45 minutes away by train in Civitavecchia. Next, I am not aware of any ferries or boats to Sorrento from Civitavecchia.

Thanks Larry, I have been looking at all ways to get from Rome Airport that did not involve a train. My husband wants a car because he wants the freedom but I have been reading such negative posts on this subject and I really don't want to beat this one to death. I thought I could offer him another way to travel Thanks for your input

Another inexpensive and comfortable option is to take a bus, from the Rome Tiburtina train station to Sorrento (just 17.5 euros). Check the website http://www.curreriviaggi.it/ The catch is there's just one bus daily (except for Sunday) at 14:00 , and you'd have to get from the airport to Tiburtina train station, so this would depend on your arrival time in Rome.
