Boat Tour Positano or Land Tour?

Hi again all,
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions or experiences with taking a boat tour around Amalfi Coast or to Capri from Positano? or doing a Driving Tour around Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello?? For the boat tours is it better to book in advance or show up on the beach the day you want to go..this way I'm thinking you could play it by ear with the weather?

thanks suggestions welcome :)

We did a combination of tours to get different perspectives. Driving along the Amalfi coast from Sorrento to Positano. But also a boat tour circling Capri. That one was very fun! We just picked up a skipper when we arrived at the port of Capri and did a private boat tour (95 Euro for a 2 hour tour for the 4 of us).

If you opt for driving the coast line, be aware that it's quite a stressful drive. Either have some experience driving in Europe (and especially Italy) or take the bus.

No I def do not plan on driving myself lol..we will be staying right in Positano so I would like to do both a land and boat tour if possible..thanks for your suggestions. I am thinking a driving tour of Sorrento, Amalfi and Ravello and then a boat tour to and around Capri. :)

Fabyan,
There are buses from the SITA company that go back and forth along the Amalfi coast from Sorrento to Amalfi and back. Positano is in between the two. There are also buses that from Amalfi proceed further south all the way to Salerno and back. The bus costs just a handful of euros and you can see the same things you can see from a private car for a fraction of the cost. The bus timetable is below:

There are also boat excursions from Positano to Capri. Just go to the harbor and inquire. There is more than one company. It's generally an all day trip departing in the morn. I usually buy them the day before, but you can go early in the morning and buy on the spot. Unless they are all booked you can. There are also boats going all along the Amalfi coast from Amalfi to Sorrento and all the way to Naples and back. All of them stop in Positano.
