where can I get information on a boat ride to Ostia Antica?
Not sure exactly what you are asking? Ostia Antica is the old port city for Rome on the Tiber. It is a national park still bordering the Tiber. General access to OA is via train from Rome. While there is a dock there I am unaware of any regular boat service to OA. And I am not sure where it would come from but it would have come for the south towards Lido di Ostia because the river is very silted in and only shallow boats could go on that part. Lido di Ostia is the beach town somewhat south of OA when many locals go for beach activities. If there is boat service it would have to be very local.
I have never heard of a boat ride to Ostia Antica. I only know of a train that goes from Rome to Ostia Antica and the beach nearby. Of course, I only did a day trip.
This will get you started. **http://www.battellidiroma.it/all_cruises.asp** Runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Was 13e in 2007 round trip. Took it June 29th, 2007. But don't take the return trip. Since that starts at 2pm - only two hours in Ostia which is not enough time. Just take the Train Back when you want. Takes 2 hrs, 20 minutes. Starts at the Ponte Marconi at 10 am. You can pay cash at the boat, or reserve with an e-ticket. Be sure to bring either your Roma Pass or Cash for the back door entrance to the Ostia site. The boat, "Calpurnia," does leave and return to Rome. You'll want to email battellidiroma. I see on the official site that they are not telling people too much about this Cruise. Maybe they don't do it anymore....
