We will be travelling from Cortona to Positano in September,and wondered if it is possible to take a ferry from Naples(near the train station)to Positano?

The ferry in Naples is not near the train station. You could bus it or taxi to Ferry but you will want to ck schedules bef you decide. Otherwise you will need to transfer to another train in Naples to get to Sorrento then bus it to Positano.Details are in RS guidebk.

careful with planning on the boats - they don't run often on "low" season..and in winter, not at all to Positano...and don't run if the water is too choppy. It's a nice ride, but I would probably plan on the bus from Sorrento or Salerno.

www.metrodelmare.com lists schedules and fares between Naples and Postiano. Ask your hotel in Positano if there are other ferry services.
