We are going to amalfi coast in march 25-30 and my wife gets car sick easily so I was hoping to use the boats to get from city to city but it looks like they don't run till April? Is there anything Ivan do about this or what is my other options?
Hmmm. As far as I know, bus or private driver are almost your only options when the ferries don't run. They DO operate from Sorrento to Capri all year long except on days when the sea is too rough. Where are you staying?
I usually avoid 3-party tour bookings but I did see this 8-hour small-group boat tour from Sorrento which provides " free time to explore a few towns on the Amalfi Coast at your leisure, including a 2-hour visit to the town of Amalfi" and operates on the dates you're in the region.

Here's another tour from Sorrento:

Other small-group or private boat tours are probably available albeit for a much high price than taking the buses. Is there an over-the-counter, anti-nausea medication which works for her that she could take?
Thank you Kathy we are staying at a agriturismo outside of Sorrento.I already booked a all day boat tour of Capri through mondo travel who is associated with Rick Steves.I will check into those other boat tours you suggested.I think we could just spend one day n see all the main cities along the the amalfi coast, but is there any places that we shouldn't miss or maybe should skip if they are to commercial? I have planned the entire trip myself so I'm hoping I haven't made any big errors. Thanks,Charles
Also it seems like a private driver is my other best option but they are very expensive but I'm not going to skimp on it if it is worth it?
Hi back -
I wish I could give you more firsthand advice on tours but we did Capri, Positano, etc. on our own when we were there. I wasn't personally wild about Positano although it provided some nice scenery for the camera.
Being the ferries are running there, I wouldn't have seen the need to book a tour for Capri. The island is not that large, and unless you're up to covering quite a lot of its ground on foot, there's not that much to do/see there; much of it is pedestrianized. We took a ferry, stayed 2 nights, hiked out to some of the further reaches, and we did it during high/shoulder season (October) when everything was open so our experience was probably different than for low-season day-trippers.
You said you're staying in an agriturismo outside of Sorrento? That could pose additional transport challenges unless you have a car or they're providing shuttle service to/from town?
