We are staying in Positono for 4 days and would like to visit the Blue Grotto and Capri when we are there. Do we need to book our tour in advance or can we book once we arrive? I don't want to miss it, but would prefer to book once we arrive so we have more flexibility with dates. Thanks, Linda
The boats don’t go out frequently due to rough seas. We took a boat ride around the island that skipped the Blue Grotto. I preferred our time being on Capri where we spent three nights to seeing it from the water..
Just my personal preference but I never book in advance any event that is weather dependent. It's my understanding that there are many times when the boats can't go into the grotto because of high or rough seas so I would wait and judge the weather when I was there. We were lucky when we were there (many years ago) and did get in to see it. I must be honest, though I enjoyed it thoroughly because I am always happy when I am on the water and the grotto itself is quite a sight, it wasn't the highlight of my day on Capri and I would tell anyone to go if they can but don't sweat it if you don't get to go in the grotto.
Don't miss the Blue Grotto, I thought it was amazing. Our boatman made it special by singing Oh sola Mia.
