Our son will turn 9 on our 1st night in Rome (arriving from Sorrento so jet lag won't be an issue). Any ideas for a fun birthday spot? He loves history and food, so we don't need something really "kiddie". We'll be staying near Piazza Navona. Maybe something unique near there or a family-friendly food tour?
PIZZA at Dar Poetra Pizzeria. Which is just across the river in Trastevere. Kind of hard to locate but is well known and recommended in Rick's books. (Quatro Fromage (4 Cheese) is my favorite.) Age 9 is a good age to know what really good pizza is supposed to taste and look.
Chuckee Cheese never again. It will always be "remember that Pizza we had in Rome on my 9th birthday!!!
A family friendly food tour would be the Eat Italy day-time Trastevere tour. We did this with a young daughter.
La Copelle is a RS recommendation just a short walk away from Pantheon. Dinner starts at 7 pm. Family friendly place. Follow this with a gelato at either San Crispino or next to Pantheon a name like Monteforte Cremoria (You can look up the correct spelling.).
