Hi everyone. I know that there are a lot of posts about restaurants to try in Rome, but does anyone have recommendations for a memorable restaurant to try in Rome for a birthday dinner? For this dinner we would be willing to spend more than usual, but probably not much more than $100/person. My mom and I will be there in October for 5 nights. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thank you
Does the neighborhood matter?
What kind of restaurant---elegant, homey, Roman food, seafood??
For location, or hotel is near the Travis fountain. It would be nice to be able to either walk (no more than a mile or two each way) or take public transportation. We don’t have any food allergies so the type of food is open, but we’d prefer Roman food. We don’t want to go to somewhere too fancy since we won’t bring formal clothes.
I like AL MORO very close to the Trevi. But service is typical Roman. They will not bend over backwards for you (or for me). Terrific Roman food. One of the best Carbonara of my life!!
If you can go for lunch, even better. More locals then.
Maybe read some reviews to see if it appeals to you. And here as elsewhere, pay sttention to the specials. Its an old line Roman place but on the upscale side. That price is fine.
You want to sit in the front room. Make that clear.
