Biking in Siena

So we're not going to make it to Lucca where I planned to bike the wall. I just can't pull myself away from Florence. I really want to do some biking though. Is it possible to rent bikes in Siena and is there good biking there? We will be there four nights with one day possibly in a hill town. Grazie.

You can rent bike in Florence at Florence by bike. Also, Cicloposse.com does one day tours in wine country from Florence. It's not cheap, but it's guided and you know you'll go to some great places on a wine tasting tour and see some pretty countryside. Here's a site you might check out, I just googled: http://www.aboutsiena.com/rent-bike-in-Siena.html And here's the link for Florence by Bike: http://www.florencebybike.it/ Cicloposses site: http://www.cicloposse.com/guideddaytrips.php (for the one day trips they offer) have fun. We love to bike in Italy!!

Siena is fairly hilly and not terribly bike-friendly unless you plan to bike outside of town. Florence is relatively flat and more bike-friendly. Many locals actually use bikes to commute, so there are many bike lanes especially just outside the historic center. Consider doing your biking in Florence.
