Hello! Any information on the best way to rent bikes in Rome on a Sunday? Interested in visiting and exploring the Park Pamphili. Thank you!
You wouldn't get me to bike in Rome the way the locals drive.
I am an avid cyclist in the USA and unfortunately, know of too many cyclist that were killed or injured while biking.
Michelle, hope someone has some ideas for you but might I throw out an alternative? If you haven't done the Appia Antica yet, Sundays are a GREAT time to do that one as they completely close it to vehicular traffic. There is a LOT to see along the way, and if you pedal out beyond the closest-in section - roughly beyond Tomb of Cecilia Metella - as I recall, you'll be out in pretty countryside with crumbling remains of old Roman tombs and other interesting stuff bits and piles.
The park website is here with info on bike rentals and what do/see:

Downloadable guides/maps page:

A must-do download is AppiaAnticaeng2015.pdf from that page, and for a quick overview, take a read through BrochureParcoeng2014.pdf

Not all of the attractions along the route will be open on Sunday but plenty enough of them to keep you busy.
We did a wonderful bike tour of Rome with Fat Tire Bikes. We are in our mid 60's but very active and had no trouble keeping up with the group and we were the oldest by 20 years. You may check with them to see if they have a tour of the area you are interested in and if not, maybe they would just rent you the bikes. It is a wonderful way to see a city and to get a good introduction. We have done bike tours all over Europe....Munich, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Rome...Enjoy!
You might also consider exploring the Villa Borghese park by bike. There are bike rental stands as you enter the park near the top of the Spanish Steps, and they are open on Sunday.
We have walked in the park many times but I have not seen any rental options there. Only in Villa Borghese.
I did some searching and even Italian sources indicate there are not rentals in Villa Pamphilj but you can rent bikes here http://www.romeforyou.net/bike-rent-rome-trastevere/. They are not far from Villa Pamphilj.
I would not cycle outside of a park, as a rule, but you can probably make it to the park from the cycle shop. Ask them what is best.
