Do we need a guide to bike ride the Appian Way in Rome? How much time should we allow for this. We will be biking on Sunday
We would also like to bike around the city. Is there a map of bike routes. Any suggestion on where to do and a good bike shop to rent from. Where could we rent bikes near the Appian Way. If a guide is needed, any suggestion on an affordable option. We don't need comedians or food tasting. We just want to get around Rome on bikes and get off the beaten track.
I would also like suggestions on where to take a family of 10 to eat that wouldn't break the bank.

I wouldn’t ride a bike in Rome near the usual tourist sites. Way too dangerous for me.
Very few people cycle in Rome because the traffic is intense and coupled with cobblestones (Sampietrini in Italian) and poorly maintained streets this makes for a dangerous combo. Cycling on the Appian Way or in Villa Borgheae, yes, but not through the tourist areas.
