Bike tour in Rome

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for a bike tour company besides Top Bikes? RS book also lists Cool Rent, but I can't find them on the web. We want to do the 4 hour guided bike tour with Top Bikes the day we fly in, but need a back up in case they are booked. I don't want to pay to reserve the tour and then have a plane delay and not arrive in time. We're staying in the Piazza Navona/Pantheon area. Thanks in advance!

I hope you have a great a safe bike ride.

Of all the cities which I have ever visited - and I used to ride a bike nearly 100 miles a day when I was in training when I was younger - Rome is the one in which you couldn't pay me enough to get me to cycle there.

Most of the roads are cobblestone. Even on a bus or in a taxi the fillings in your teeth want to leap to safety. On a bike I would expect the ride to be excruciating on my nether regions and knees.

Rome traffic has to be seen to be believed. No way would I want to stay in a group (or by myself) with motorinos all around, all the buses, the taxis, and all the cars. I simply can't explain it.

I hope that your ride is early on a Sunday morning.

Good luck...

Write back afterwards and say how it went.

Ha - Nigel is exactly correct. Wouldn't dare get on a bicycle in Rome unless it was in a pedestrian park.
