How safe is it to bike along the Amalfi coast ? can regular bikes or e-bikes or scooters be rented and where ?

That depends on your comfort level. These are narrow windy roads with steep drop offs, with a lot of traffic in season, plus buses. Look on youtube to get a sense of what the roads are like. We walked on them at times, to get to bus stops, and it is not for the feint of heart.

Personally the potential for problems is great because of the narrow, twisting road, and min sight lines. If you are a skilled/experienced motorcycle ride then a 250cc scooter would work. Ebikes don't have the power needed. And I would pass on a bike.

So many areas where the bus was literally inches from the cars parked on the side of the road...or within inches of the other vehicles driving by - it was fun to watch! I don't think I'd even dream of attempting to do a bike...

SCOOTER: I would consider it a great idea to rent a scooter, that is the best way to go around there, provided that you are already a very experienced motorcycle rider. Parking and traffic will not be a problem and you would certainly enjoy it. Once again I do not suggest you go that route if this is your first time on a scooter/motorcycle. The road is narrow (two way) and at time treacherous and with plenty of traffic.

BICYCLE: Also a great way to explore, however the same rules above apply. I presume this is not your first time on a bicycle. Also and most importantly, you must be are aware that there are several rather steep portions of the road, therefore if you use a bike, you need to be reasonably fit. I'm not saying you need to be Lance Armstrong on drugs, but it's a very demanding ride.

For rental outlets just google any of the following key words followed by the town where you want to rent (Amalfi, Sorrento, Positano, etc.). Sorrento, although not technically on the Amalfi Coast, is a bigger town and will probably have several rental outlets:

NOLEGGIO BICICLETTE
NOLEGGIO VESPA
NOLEGGIO SCOOTER

You could not pay me enough to ride a bike or ebike on the Amalfi Coast.
I would drive a car but nothing smaller.

Most of the locals and service workers drive scooters or motorcycles, there is definitely some skill and risk involved in doing that. A lesser powered bike seems even scarier.
There are no bike lanes and cars would not be patient with your slower speeds, buses take up almost both lanes on certain sharp curves, etc...

I did see places to rent Scooters in Positano ; don't recall seeing any bike rentals.
