Big rooms in venice

Are there any hotel rooms in Venice, with a good location,& reasonably priced that are also a decent size? There are 3 of us and so often the third bed is a rollaway stuck in an already tight room. We need a place for 4 nights, in July.
Thanks.

"Reasonably priced" is subjective, but we stayed at Ca' Angeli and loved it. They have a variety of room types, including "family rooms". We had the "Family Room for 5", which had 3 bedrooms, plus a sitting area and a bathroom, including breakfast, and near the Ponte Vecchio. Check them out at www.caangeli.it.

Since you are a party of three, you might want to try and rent an apartment. vrbo.com is a reliable rental site and they have some lovely apartments in Venice.

Lisa I have just made reservations at a recommended B&B, Corte Campana in Venice for 3 of us in May & if I understand the accomodation it is 3 beds & not a rollaway. The location is in Castella & although I don't know anything about the area I'm going with it since it is so highly recommended. I also got a quote from Ca' Rezzonica in Dorsoduro which my husband & I stayed in 2005, a RS recommendation, & if a 3 bedded room is anywhere near our 2 bedded room size you will have plenty of room. Plus a fantastic bathroom. Don't know what you consider reasonable but I had forgotten how expensive Venice is.

I guess I'm looking for something around $200 per night. We rented a lovely apartment in Madrid last year, but the down side is that you spend time cleaning the kitchen and eating in to justify the cost. Still, if it were a good price I wouldn't rule it out. Ca'Angeli has a very strict no-eating in rooms policy which is unreasonable when you have a 10 year old who needs to snack. Actually it's unreasonable for adults, too, IMO. They say it's to preserve the carpet. Is this policy common?

Venice is pricey and you may find that there is little difference in cost for a hotel or an apartment. Or the partment could be cheaper.

We have used these folks with good luck:

www.veniceapartments.org

They seem to have several apartments in your price range and lower as well. You could look at 1 bedrooms with a couch or day bed for the youngster.

Prices tend to be more reasonable away from Piazza San Marco. We have enjoyed staying in Castello, San Polo and Dorsoduro.

In July I'd suggest getting something with air conditioning.

We usually don't really cook but it's nice to have a spot for breakfast and wine and snacks.

Our group is staying at Pensione Guerrato because they have large rooms for 5 persons with airconditioning and breakfast and a central location close to Rialto. They were also very very affordable. Glad I found them.

On the no-eating-in-rooms policy, I've never asked whether we can eat in hotel rooms. But I would guess that if you asked, most hotels would prefer you not, for the exact reason that hotel gave you.

We took a 10yo to Italy last fall, and she didn't need to snack in the room, and neither did we. We were having so many wonderful Italian meals, plus stops for gelato, that we were never hungry. Also, if he needs a snack, that's a great excuse for a stop at a cafe!

The place we stayed had a great location and a decent-sized triple room, but a bit above your price range - we paid 199 Euros/night for a triple with a canal view (breakfast included). It's the Casa Santa Maria Formosa, and it's just off the campo of the same name. It was clean and the staff was very helpful.

Hi!
We stayed at Ca Bonvicini on September 2008. For us, the best hotel during our 25 nights trip in Europe. When you see the website, you'll think, as we did, that this has to be a very expensive hotel, but for our surprise, we didn't payed more than 150EUR-night.
Ver well located, near Rialto Bridge, breakfast was taken to our room... What else can we ask for???
Just check their website and try it... Good Luck!!!

Lisa - I echo the suggestion of Pensione Guerrato. The price is right and we were shocked by the size of the 2 rooms we had. We were told when checking in they were the same size and they definitely were not. My boyfriend's parents had massive-sized room and it had a king bed I think and 2 twin beds on the opposite wall. It was way more room than any 2 people would have ever needed and the price and location was fantastic.

Loved this place!

Ca' del dose

We had a triple, which was one large master bedroom(by Euro standards) with a seperate small single. It was perfect for us! Nice amenities and the location was feet from the action, but down an alley with a nice little square that made you feel like you were miles away from the tourist scene.

Pretty sure this was a Rick Steve's recommendation, so book early.

One other thing, we had 13 year old daughter along and she loved having her "own room."
