Can anyone recommend a reliable rental car from Bergamo airport. I see the ratings are all over the place. Thanks in advance.

We use the broker Autoeurope [for which we have a toll free number], referrals only to Hertz, Avis or Europcar; get zero-deductible collision, which covers any damage to the body of the vehicle. The agency choice might depend on where you plan to return the car. Read this about driving in Italy and restrictions involved [ZTLs]; avoid leaving anything of value in a car when parked:
