Yikes! Poor Italy!

And we have little-to-no rain in what should be our wettest month in Oregon.

Wow, from the footage, the flooding in Matera looks pretty intense. :O(

Wow! We were there on the South of Italy tour. I’m surprised that the gorge is not taking the run off instead of going through town. Or maybe it is via the Sassi.

Oh my! Like Laurel reported, lower than normal rain in the PNW. Thanks for the report.

In Matera, it was indeed via the sassi.
Naples area and bay has also been flooded as well as Southern Tuscany.
Sardinia and all the nearby islands are also experiencing very bad weather. Most ferries do not travel. Schools in the areas were closed early this week.

Venice should calm a little within one week but there are a lot of damage
Should you want to help save Venice works of art and donate something or help its inhabitants, this is the time to do it.
I am not from Venice nor do I belong to an association of some sort.

Just got back from 16 days in Rome. Had one day (first day) of sun & 70° temps. Rain every other day, aside from that 1st day. Never all day, but showery & gray every single day. Temps were in the 60s, so not bad for walking around, but rain gear needed every time we left the apt. As we left (on the 19th) the Tiber was well over it's normal banks. The biking/hiking paths by the riverside were all under 3-4 ft. of water.

Well, at least no harsh shadows or sun glare in any of my photos!
