Travellers be warned, ignore Dante at your peril.
At the moment there isn't a real collapsing risk. Even the earthquake happened yesterday hasn't affected the leaning Garisenda tower.
The great problem is that the tower need to be fixed, will be packed probably for years and is even possible the whole square will be closed to the traffic, if fact cutting in two the center of Bologna to buses and maybe car/taxis.
Due to the problem of the leaning tower Garisenda, at the moment is closed to the public even the tallest tower Asinelli.
Is not even sure when will be opened again, but probably not in a short time. Is not sure which kind of refurbishment needs the Garisenda tower, so how much of the area will be closed and for how long.
Stay tuned!
