thoughts on the best and most time efficient routes? Places to stay in Florence & Cinque Terre?
I'm going to disagree with Steve.
If you want to do both, stop in Florence before going to the CT. Venice to the CT is about 6 hours on the train and you'll probably change trains in Florence.
IT makes for a long day.
Venice to Florence is about 2 hours
FLorence to Vernazza is about 3.
This is why I'm confused! Rick Steves indicated to go from Venice straight to CT. However, I thought it might help to brake up the trip by stopping in Florence. From CT, we're going to Tuscany/Siena region and then to Rome.
some folks like to alternate bigger city then village/country.
If it were me I'd stop in Florence then the CT. If you are planning on a car for the Tuscan countryside, you can pick it up in La Spezia or Pisa after the CT.
Great idea! Then we can run out and take our pic with the leaning tower and hop in a car!
Also, would you stay in Monterosso or Vernazza?
Any good idea as to where to stay for a true Country Tuscan experience? We'll be there for two nights.
