Only way to fly is to Naples on EasyJet, and they fly at 5:25 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Prices are 86 Euros to 110 Euros most often.
It would be difficult to get to Sorrento without staying in Naples and taking a local train down to Sorrento the next day.
If you want to go to Sorrento, a flight directly into Naples would be your best bet rather than flying into Venice.

Sorrento is a considerable distance from Venice airport (over 700km or over 400 miles), so there's really no way to travel between them quickly. Flying could be faster, but then again maybe not. For flying to be inexpensive, you'd have to pre-purchase your tickets and that means leaving plenty of time between your arriving and departing flights. That adds quite a bit of time to 3.5 hours of flights plus a 1.5 hour transfer to Sorrento. Your better option would probably be bus (or taxi) to Venezia Mestre train station, train to Napoli Centrale train station and then a private transfer to your lodgings in Sorrento. The private transfer is expensive but, after several hours of travel, it might be better than taking the much less expensive local train or ferry. Anticipate that it will take you a good 8 hours to reach Sorrento from Venice airport.

Our answers could be more precise if we knew your exact travel schedule and what you are trying to accomplish. As pointed out earlier Sorrento is some distance from Venice and a little awkward to get there. The generally recommendation is that if you are at the airport, then using air probably will be the most efficient and quickest way. Otherwise you need to get to the train station in Venice from the airport, then a train to Naples and the Circumvesuvianna to Sorrento. Nothing is quick about that route. Curious -- if your goal is Sorrento, why are not flying into Naples? That probably would have been the simplest, quickest, and cheapest.

I would assume that this price is without checked luggage, if yours is of a size/weight to have to be checked (varies per airline). Some of the bargain airlines restrict luggage to one carryon item or may even charge for a carryon. Depending on circumstances, not having to pay luggage fees can be a plus for rail travel if price is a factor.

But I'll agree with the previous posters: Venice to Sorrento is not going to be 'quick' by any means and will involve multiple modes of transport, some of it ranging from very inexpensive (Circumvesuviana commuter or seasonal Campania Express trains) to significantly more pricey (private car from Naples> Sorrento) depending, again, on circumstances. Time of year can also be a factor.

And, of course, there is also the question of leaving Sorrento for your next location....which is?

Lots of info on regional transport info here (click on "Getting to Sorrento"):

So, when will you be traveling, how many of you will be in your group, do any of you have mobility challenges, and what does your full itinerary look like?

Knowing what the rest of the trip looks like would be helpful.

The vacuum of info the OP has left, leads to the inference, OP is arriving at VCE from somewhere and wanting to go on to Sorrento immediately. That creates the question of why is OP going to VCE if Sorrento is the destination.

Depending on where the rest of the 2 weeks is going to be, Sorrento may fit in better from somewhere other than Venice.

EDIT

Answer to that question is dependent on when you arrive at VCE. How far into the future the trip is will affect pricing.

Take a train to Naples and then a ferry or private driver to Sorrento. If your budget is tight you can take the Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento but it is very uncomfortable but culturally entertaining.

dori,

I agree with other comments..... some additional information on your travel plans would be helpful.

After reading your post, I wondered why you were flying inbound Venice if your desired destination was Sorrento? It would be much better to change that flight to Naples, as it's very easy to get from there to Sorrento via the Curreri Viaggia coach.
