Is it best to go by train or bus and how long would it take , is it a day trip for each town? We are thinking bus or train not really wanting to rent a car.
This is very easy: Siena/Arezzo: LFI/TRA-IN bus: www.lfi.it (Line 138) http://www.lfi.it/orari_linee_si_mob/138.pdf One-way bus fare: 5.40 Euros (?) Siena/Orvieto: Trenitalia train with connection at Chiusi Scalo: www.ferroviedellostato.it One-way train fare: 7.90 or 12.80 Euros, depending on whether you take the IC or the Regionale train between Chiusi Scalo and Orvieto. NOTE: Chiusi Scalo is also known as Chiusi-Chianciano Terme (see Trenitalia website), but it's not particularly close to Chianciano Terme!!! I continue to refer to it by its more traditional name Chiusi Scalo (or Chiusi train station). NOTE: Siena/Orvieto is a bit long to do as a daytrip. Siena/Arezzo as a daytrip works better.
Thank you, I also sent you a private message a few days ago regarding your reply about Siena to Gubbio. This is the first time I am on Rick Steves and have tried but can't get into the private message for your reply. I have tried everything, can you let me know how to do this?
