Hi all, wondering how to get to Rome from Civitavacchia when we disembark from our cruise 9-22-18. I understand the train station is a mile from the port. Is there any type of transfer from the port to the train station?
I'm not sure I'd call taking the train the "best" way to get into Rome.
Firstly, you can't walk from the ship to the cruise terminal. You'll have to line up for one of the shuttle buses. From the cruise terminal you can choose from a local bus that runs about every 20 min, a taxi, or a 15 min walk to the train station.
Or you could use a private car service.
Or the cruise ship drop off excursion.
Here's a link to a website with info on the Civitavecchia cruise port: https://www.rometoolkit.com/airport/civitavechia.htm#train

Does your cruise line not have ship to Rome transportation?
A friend and I did once take Holland America’s transfer from Civitavecchia to Rome. It included a mini tour of the city. It was very convenient and we took a cab from the terminal point to our hotel. However ..... the cost was US$95.
