Hi,
My husband and I are flying from US to Rome and taking a private transfer from Rome airport to our hotel in Positano (Conca dOro). Yes, it's a but more expensive but we don't want additional hassle after a long trip. Here is my question, I've seen different threads about taking ferries to see the coast. That is something we would like to do while there. What is the best way to see the coast from the water? Is it best to take a city bus from Positano to Salerno and catch a ferry from Salerno to Positano? or are there better ways to enjoy the whole coastal view from the water or start from a different location other than Salerno? Thanks so much for feedback.
If you take a bus to Salerno, you will have to change buses in Amalfi. Not a big deal to do. Various ferries stop in various ports, just check the port listings to find what you want. I don't think there is a hop-on-hop-off ferry ticket, since there are different companies, so you can put together an itinerary that suits you with separate tickets.
Vietri-sul-mare is the end of the Amalfi Coast trip, Minori is worth a stop for Sal De Riso's pasticceria across the street from the ferry dock, Atrani, Amalfi, Positano are other stops that I like wandering around.
Go to the Travelmar website. You can catch the ferry from Positano to Amalfi, or to Salerno. Unlike taking a train to Salerno and it bring a one way trip...you will have a round trip. we did this and it's a highlight of our trip.
Lulu so you did ferry to Amalfi or Salerno from Positano and ferry back to Positano? that sounds good
