Best way to go from Positano to Rome

Hi,
Our family of four will need to travel from Positano to Rome. What is the nicest or most convenient way to get there?
Someone suggested a private van. They quoted me 450 Euro. My parents are in their 70s and I would like to make it convenient for them. Do you have any recommendations?

Thank you

A private van is certainly the most convenient. 450 sounds about right for the distance.

Van is most convient.

We hired a car and driver and went to the Naples train station. Then took the high speed train to Rome (termini). Little hassle and with a first class fare you have access to the first class lounge at the station. Incidently, we are in our early 70's, very early, and in good health.

If the cost is not burdensome, then a van with door to door service is certainly a good choice.

A car from Positano to Naples central station, then the high speed to Rome, could be just as convenient. The Frecciarossa train is way faster than the van.

On our last visit to Sorrento a few yrs ago my husband and I paid 100 Euros for a private transfer from our hotel in Sorrento to Naples train station and then took the high speed to Rome. We usually take the Circumsuviana coming and going but just weren't "feeling" it that day so opted for a private transfer. So as other posters stated, maybe take a private transfer to Naples and hop on a high speed to Rome. Have a great trip!

Just noticed you have a family of four. So these are the figures.

The full base train fare from Napoli Centrale to Rama Termini for 4 adults in standard class is 45€ each. However there are discounts for children, families, and also for advance purchases. So the private car to Naples plus train will cost you no more than 280€. With discounted tickets it would be less than 200€. Travel time total, door to door, is less than 3.5 hours (90 min drive to Naples+train wait time, let's say 30 min to be super safe+70 min train ride+20 min at most estimated taxi ride from Rome station to your accommodations).

If you drive all the way from Positano to Rome with a private driver, it is a 4 hour drive total, door to door, so slightly longer. The price of 450€-500€ is about right.
