Best way to go from Chiusi to Ancona

We are traveling from Chiusi to Ancona and the trains go thru Bologna. They are fast trains mostly but have to change trains twice. Wondering if trains are the best way to go or if a bus would be better. We need to be in Ancona by 5 to have time to get to the ferry for Croatia.

There’s a train that departs Chiusi at 8:48a that takes 4h 15m: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html. You must transfer at the Terontola-Cortona station. All other trains take longer and some require two changes. I don’t see a direct bus from Chiusi to Ancona.

Got to cross the Apennines mountains somewhere, and trains can’t climb too well.
You can either do that between Florence and Bologna (where the fastest trains travel) or between Foligno and Falconara (no fast trains).
