We are staying near Campo de Fiori and have a 11:00 reservation for a guided tour of the Vatican Museums run by the Vatican. What method of transportation would you recommend and how early should we arrive at the entrance in order to go through all the lines. We have to pay in cash at their internal cash desk. Thanks,
Sondra
Walk - 15 mins or so. You will need to go through security screening which is generally the big bottleneck so I would leave by 10.
Or the number 492 bus goes right to a stop opposite the Vatican Museums entrance from Largo Argentina and the road just to the right of Piazza Navona. Or the number 64 which goes just to the south of St Peters colonade, but you then have to walk around the walls. >>EDIT - I note the 15 minute answer in the previous post. A brisk 15 minutes from Campo dei Fiori would get me to the Colonnade and the security for the Basilica. There's no way I could then make it all the way around the walls up the hill to the entrance to the Musei Vaticano in that amount of time from c. Fiori.
