Best way to get to Train station in Venice from my accommodation

My family is staying in Venice for 5 days, just off the Grand Canal, across from the Guggenheim museum. We'll be taking a day trip to Florence and maybe another short train trip as well, and I'm wondering whether we should plan to take a vaparetto to the train station or just walk - walking is about 25 minutes. If we take the vaparetto, I figure we should get the ACTV passes, but if not, probably not. Walk or ride? (we're all able to walk, no problem.) Otherwise, I'm thinking we'll be walking to wander the city, etc. All of this is just imagining . . . any suggestions or guidance? Thanks!

Vaparetto. It is fun walking around Venice, but very easy to get lost, turned around, etc. Getting from point A to point B is not as easy as it looks. Fine to walk for other endeavors, but I'd take the vaparetto to get to the train station.

The last time I was in Venice I found that i could really walk everywhere saving so much on those boat costs

You will be doing enough walking in Florence.

Catch the number 2 vaporetto, faster than the number 1 from Accademia to Ferrovia for the full length of the Grand Canal. Going that direction to catch an early train to Florence it won't be busy on the boat.

It looks easy on the map to walk but many people will take much more than 25 minutes to walk that distance in Venice.

If you have the 24/48/72 hour vaporetto pass there is no marginal cost for another ride.

It's a longish walk and it's easy to make a wrong turn. Take the vaparetto to the train station and then walk back upon your return, when you're under no time constraints. Best of both worlds.

As walks in Venice go, this would be an easy one. Your hotel will surely be able to provide a map and landmarks. I would walk in the morning, then, at the end of the day, if you are tired you can take the vaporetto home. I might even consider checking the price on a water taxi from Santa Lucia. For 5 people it might not cost much more than 5 individual vaporetto tickets, if you are extra tired and just want to get home. And it would be a beautiful way to end a very long day.
