Planning a few days around Milan prior to our MyWay Alpine Tour that starts last week of August in Salzburg. Looking at train vs fly options and wanted to know if anyone has any insights or tips or tricks for travel between these two locations. I'm only seeing flights that connect in Frankfurt. I'm reading some things about overnight train options but not finding anything conclusive. Thanks for sharing any insights or recommendations.

Fly to Munich and take the train to Salzburg, 2 1/4 hours from Munich airport. Flights from either Linate or Malpensa.

There is a night train between Milan and Salzburg, you can read more about at www.nightjet.com. But if you have the time you can also take the day train, it's a long trip but it gives you some amazing views of the Alps.
