Best way to get to Naples from Siena?

I'll be in Siena in early April and then heading straight to Naples. It looks like I'll need to take a train to Rome and then change trains to get to Naples - is that right? Also, how much time will this probably take, from departure in Siena to arrival in Naples? Any tips on types of trains to take (or avoid), or anything else related to this itinerary would be much appreciated - thanks!

You can check all your options by going to www.trenitalia.com and entering SIENA to NAPOLI CENTRALE.
Some fast options might imply backtracking to Florence (which you can actually do faster by bus) then take a high speed train to Naples.

If that is the route you take (which is likely the fastest since it's aboard a high speed train) there will be no train changes required once you get on the high speed train in Florence (FIRENZE SANTA MARIA NOVELLA station). Most trains from Florence to Naples stop in Rome, but you can just stay on board as the train proceeds further south to Naples.
