We will be coming home from Italy in Sept and staying the last night at the hotel in the airport. Last time there was such a long line that we didn't have time to get our VAT refund. Can we get it a day early? Any other suggestions???

I take it you are buying expensive gifts or items. Do the merchants you buy from offer shipping direct to your home? If so, why not just have them ship it, saving you the VAT without having to do all the paperwork.
Others here may know of better ways to submit the VAT refund paperwork.
