Best way to get from Venice to Bellagio

Just needing help deciding what would be the best way by train to get there and aprox cost. Just a note we are discovering that it really may be cheaper to just buy our train tickets as we go then to buy a Euro pass. We are starting our trip in Frankfrut (overwesel), Heilenburg,Salzburg,Hallstat,Venice, Bellagio and ending in Milian. What is your opinion?

Hi Melissa. Yes, buying individual tix will almost certainly be cheaper and less hassle than buying a pass. For Venice to Bellagio, one good way is: - train from Venice to Milan (buy online at trenitalia.com for discount if you are willing to lock in a day and time, or else wait and buy in Italy), then - local train from Milan to Varenna (don't buy tix online; this is a no reservation train), then - ferry ride to Bellagio.
Enjoy your trip!

Melissa, The route suggested in the previous reply is about the easiest way to get from Venice to Bellagio. The trip duration will range from about 4H:10M to about 5H:05M, depending on which train you use. The price for the Venice to Milan leg will depend on whether you can get the "Super Economy" fare. Economy fare is €29 and Base fare is €35. The trip from Milan to Varenna-Esino is via Regionale, and the only fare available is €6.25 (DON'T forget to validate). It might be a good idea to also buy your return tickets from Varenna to Milan. They're usable within a specific date range, but won't be "activated" until you validate them. You could also buy them at the small Travel Agency just down the hill from the station in Varenna. You can verify train departure times and other information on the Trenitalia website. There's really no benefit in buying a Railpass for the few trips you'll be making. P-P tickets will be easier and more cost effective. Happy travels!
