Best way to get from Venice Marco Polo airport to Muggia

We are arriving 10:50 a.m. on a Friday and need to get to Muggia to start our bike ride on Saturday. What is the best option. We are 2 couples with one suitcase and one carry-on each. I think a bus will be fewer transfers than train from Venice to Trieste then bus to Muggia, but the train is ultimately faster. Does anyone have thoughts as to which is better? Thank you in advance.

You can take a train from Venezia Mestre to Trieste Centrale, then, from there, the city bus no. 20 to Muggia. To reach Venezia Mestre station from the airport you can use the bus or a taxi.
www.trenitalia.com will have the train schedule. The earliest for your arrival would depart at 12:51.

You can also use a bus directly from the Venice airport to Trieste Centrale. Flixbus has a run every couple of hours (the earliest for your flight arrival would be at noon). Itabus also has 3 daily runs (the earliest for your arrival is at 12:55pm).

The time of travel is similar (train takes 1h53m, bus takes 1h50m to 2h), but the train entails an extra step and mode of transportation (bus from the airport to Venezia Mestre station), at the same time the train has more frequent runs (a couple of runs per hour) and no need to book a seat (the bus might have all seats booked if you don’t book in advance).
