Best Way to Get From Venice Airport to the City

Hello,
We will be arriving in Venice in a few weeks and are wondering what the best way to get from the airport to our hotel is.
We are staying in the Dorsoduro area.
The vaporetti look fun, but I have seen mixed reviews and I am not sure about how to find the best route. The bus seems like a nice option too. (Inexpensive and timely)
Looking for opinions, and even other options if anyone has any.

Thank you in advance!

The boat that takes people from the airport to the city is the Alilaguna. The vaporetti are equivalent to city buses, and take people around and through the city, and out to the islands in the lagoon (Burano, etc.). The #5 bus from the airport to the Piazzale Roma is indeed a good option.

The above is a pretty good list. You could also hire a private taxi (boat) or swim. :)

For us, the “best” was not the cheapest but the most personalized (we had kids, a lot of bags, and were coming from a long journey ), so we opted for private. With the amount of people it was economical. The answer depends on what your definition of “best” is. Can you tell us your party size, whether, you are starting your vacay vs coming to Venice from another destination, how many bags, etc. Some define “best” as fastest. Some define it as cheapest. Some may have a lot of bags, making the vaporetto more challenging. Some may have a large party making it more affordable to hire a private taxi. And so on.

Most Venice hotels have “Arrival” info on their website- have you looked for that or asked your hotel what they recommend?

Basic options are:

Bus then vaporetto
Alilaguna
Land taxi then vaporetto
Bus then water taxi
Water taxi the whole way

You will most likely want to purchase a vaporetto pass so one of the vaporetto combos might be your best choice

Thank you all for the suggestions!

We are just the two of us, and we travel light! Wheeled carry-ons and a backpack each.

We will be traveling from Tampa, FL, so it will be a long day of travel before arriving. Need to just push through that day, so maybe arriving by boat could be fun and stimulating. (Either that or it will rock us to sleep and we will crash hard!)

Arriving by water taxi is very cool and memorable
Here is the official site
https://www.motoscafivenezia.com/en/

You can book in advance or just check prices
Or you can book once you arrive at airport- price should be the same
Or you can book a shared water taxi- not sure what that price is, somebody here will know

Water taxi will get you as close to your hotel as possible, so if hotel has a water door or is on a canal that works

If you tell us exactly where your hotel is we can give you more specific directions

last year i took the bus to piazzale roma and then a vaporetto to guidecca. the bus was easy and cheap. i immediately got a 7-day pass after getting off the bus and for the rest of my stay just jumped on and off the vaporettos at will.
