I will be traveling from the Venice airport to Cortona without a car. Does anyone have firsthand knowledge/experience for the best and/or easiest way to get from VCE to Cortona, between bus and train? Private transport is too expensive and thus not a viable option. Thank you!
I doubt anyone will have first hand experience traveling from Venice airport to Cortona, since anyone going to Cortona will fly into Rome. However, just plug in Venezia Mestre to Cortona Centro into https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html, and you will get solutions. Takes about 4 1/4 hours by taking a highspeed train to Florence and change to a reginal train to Carmucia-Cortona, then a local bus to Cortona proper. From Venice airport, take the bus to Venezia Mestre train station.
