My wife and I are leaving a cruise ship in Trieste and heading to Venice for couple of days next May. I haven't been able to find a convenient method of transportation that is reasonable. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you ending your cruise there?
If so, the train is probably the easiest and cheapest, with the possible exception of direct buses. Trains depart every 15 to 30 minutes, but you will not find schedules or tickets that far out.
If just a stop, then there are other things to consider.
Does the cruise company offer a shuttle service from the cruise terminal to Venice? There are several buses from the Autostazione in Trieste to the Tronchetto in Venice for, what I consider, a very reasonable price.
Thank you, Paul.
Thank you, Reederman.

Your starting station is Trieste Centrale, your destination for Venice proper is Venezia Santa Lucia, or Venezia S. Lucia. If you look out a couple months, for which there are tickets, they run from 12 euro to just over 20 euro each. Not sure you save much by booking ahead if you are unsure of times.
