Our plane from London gets into Naples at 3pm. we are staying in Ravello. our hotel will pick us up at the airport for 100 euro but that seems expensive. What is the best way to get to Ravello - boat, bus or train? I am having difficulties getting times and prices for travel.
I was also interestted in this area last time but didn't find train service for the amalfi towns. your best bet is probably get to naples' ferry terminal first (down by the new csstle), then hopefully catch a ferry. Buses are very crowed and slow, and you have to get a bus in sorento. ferry services are not very frequent either, so maybe 100 euro is not too bad considering all the hassles. (you may negotiate price by paying cash)
We just came from the area last week. I would take the taxi deal. I do not think Ravello can be done with a taxi/ferry/bus/train combo of some kind otherwise. It cost us 30 Euro to go from Amalfi town up to Ravello (a ten minute ride). If you take the ferry or bus to Amalfi, you do not want to try to get on the smaller bus in Amalfi up to Ravello with luggage, as it was so crowded people were practically hanging out the windows and we understand there are pickpockets on each bus.
I meant to say:
"I would take the taxi deal. I do not think Ravello can be done WITHOUT a taxi/ferry/bus/train combo of some kind otherwise." By the way, Ravello was lovely. A very good restaurant is Cosimo something. If you are standing in the square facing the church, go up a small street to your left at about 10 oclock. I think that's how I recall. Ask around, you will find it! Have fun!
