best way to get from Messina to Salerno

Will be in Sicily Easter week & am trying to determine the best way to get from Messina to Salerno.

Ferry Messina-Salerno with Caronte & Tourist lines (9 hour journey).
Train with Trenitalia (5h 20min journey, including ferry crossing to Villa S.G.)
Car with rental car (~ 5 hr driving time, including ferry crossing to Villa S.G.)

"Best" is a subjective attribute. Choose the one you prefer.
