Just as the topic states, what is the best way to get from Florence to Pisa? Thanks!
Choo Choo....about an hour. Plenty of choices.
Check the train schedules here: Dbahn or Trenitalia
Buy the tickets when you get there.
Couldn't be easier.
Did it just last summer and is very easy. Per Rick's book we got off at the station just past the main station and it is a very short walk to the tower.
We just did it on the way to Vernazza and on our way out of Vernazza we changed trains in Pisa to go to Florence. The trains are super easy. Just go to the Florence train station, buy a ticket at the window or use the easy self serve kiosks. Hop on, hop off.
Rick's book says the bus stop to the tower is by the Jolly hotel. It's a different named hotel now. Just get off the train, cross the street from the station and look for the bus stop. There is no info on the station sign, but you'll see other tourists, ask them, ask the bus driver if he's going to the Field of Miracles (sorry, jet lag, don't remember the Italian) and then hang on.
It was lovely. We only spent about an hour there,. but I loved it. The glow of that marble is amazing. And the trip back to the station was gorgeous. The river and the colored buildings. Pisa would be a nice place to spend a night.
