Best way to get from Civitavecchia to Siena

Can anyone help? We have been adviced from different people to take a train to Florence, Rome, or Grosseto and then a bus to Siena but we can't find the site to buy the bus ticket and don't know which route is best. I have disabilities, so the fewer the transfers the better. When looking on trenitalia, it was giving us 5 minutes to change trains in grosseto, which just isn't going to happen.

Thanks everyone. We think we found a direct bus from Grosseto to Siena, which would mean only 1 change. Is anyone familiar with Grosseto? Where is the bus station in relation to the train station? We aren't even sure we're reading the bus schedule correctly.

There isn't a best way, there are only bad ways. The shortest possible path is through Grosseto, but train at present is not an option as, due to a landslide, part of the line is at present closed; so Trenitalia runs a bus between Grosseto and Buonconvento and you have to change two times. The line will be reopened some time during the next months, so allowing a single change in Grosseto.

A second hypothesis could be train to Grosseto, then switch to Tiemme bus. Schedule (not easy to decipher) at: http://www.tiemmespa.it/var/ezdemo_site/storage/original/application/6acd210fe9f048c5e250c54dbcd0a167.pdf

Train to Rome Termini, change for Florence and from there the bus to Siena might be least troublesome. Having no stairs Rome Termini is easy to navigate. The bus station in Florence is across the road from the main train station S.M.Novella.

I think Ton has the best solution: express train to Roma Termini, train to Florence, and then bus to Siena.

A more expensive but possibly worthwhile alternative would be a taxi to Termini and then train to Florence and bus to Siena.

You could always take a local train from Rome Termini up to Orvieto. Walk across the street to Hertz and rent a car to drive to Siena. It's toll motorway most of the way and a nice 4 lane highway the rest of the way--about 1 1/2 hrs. drive.
Tuscany is one of those places where it's much more enjoyable to see the scenery via automobile anyway.
